CCC#39: No Sign (flash fiction)

No Sign

“Are you sure this is where the ferry comes?” Cindy asked.

“Definitely.” Jess replied.

Cindy looked around. There was no signage anywhere showing the ferry stopped here. She sat down on the ground next to Jess and sighed.

This was the second day of their break from the farm. Yesterday they ended up spending the entire day on the beach. Today they had decided to catch the ferry so they could go hiking. Apparently there was a really good trail on the other side that the hotel had suggested.

Cindy was skeptical that the ferry actually stopped here, but Jess was so stubborn she would go on sitting here all day if necessary, even if the ferry never came. Cindy pulled out some sandwiches from her bag.

“You hungry?” She asked.

“I want to wait until we’ve done some hiking.” Jess replied.

Fat chance of that ever happening, thought Cindy.
