Excuse Me?

“What time does this store close?”

“Six pm I believe.”

“And where can the books on photography be found?”

“Over to the left, I think. That’s where the non-fiction section is.”

“Can you order books if they’re not in stock?”

“I think so.”

“You think so? You should know! Why are you rolling your eyes at me? I could go elsewhere.”

“You’re welcome to. I’m a customer here myself, and your questions are beginning to perplex me.”

“You should have told me you weren’t staff.”

“You shouldn’t have assumed I was.”

This has happened to me. Someone assumed I was staff in a store and began asking me lots of questions.

This was written with the prompt perplex provided by Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt #147.

Today is the anniversary of the Mosque shootings in my city that killed 54 people. My thoughts this day are with the victims and their families and friends.

  1. Happened to me. One person asked me how much for the key chain? I said 10000. She was just dumbfound. She shouted you are lying and I said when I sell a key chain I sell it at 10000, take it or leave it. True story. I still laugh.

    How you doing.😊
