Unknown Destination
She woke me early in the morning with a kiss. Her arms were around me and her lips softly kissed my neck.
“Morning sleepy girl!” she said when I finally opened my eyes.
“Didn’t think I’d see you until later.” I replied.
“Well I’ve been thinking. You know how we’ve got the next few days off? I thought we could go on a trip.” she announced.
“Like today?”
“Yep just pack a bag with enough stuff for a few days and then catch a bus. I’ve already got tickets!” she revealed as she brandished a couple of tickets in her hands.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“That’s a secret!”
So only a couple of hours later there I was in a bus with her. Once it started getting dark, I realised I was just enjoying spending this time with her as we traveled into an unknown future together.

I had another idea which was a lot darker, which I may still write…

I’m glad you went this way. Great take on the prompt, Joanne

Sweet story. Having done cross country buss travel before though; it’s poopy. 😀
Great use of the prompt provided though. 🙂

Thanks ♥️ I quite enjoy going on long bus journeys, though I prefer trains.

Maybe the buses are better down there. 🙂 New Zealand is also much smaller than the US, so a LONG bus trip here is thousands of miles.

Great response to the image Joanne. Well done and yes we’d like to know where you went.

😀 I was going to say that this was refreshingly (or maybe suspiciously) positive. 😀

“Another idea which was much darker”
This one could still turn dark, haha

Maybe it might turn out like a certain movie (I can’t remember the title) where a woman takes her girlfriend to her families holiday home with the express intention of murdering her (because she’s actually a psychopath).

Oh wow, that’s nuts. Kind of like “Get Out”?

What Keeps You Alive is the film I was thinking of. I’m not saying my flash fiction is going to head the way, but if you’re imagining it going in a dark direction, that’s one way it could always go…

I did a surprise trip for my ex-wife and pretty much failed to pack anything she would actually need.

LMAO. Often best to leave us women to pack our own things…
