Mission Success (flash fiction)

Mission Success

We jumped into an unknown system. It had a solitary star with eight significant planets.

“Captain, the third planet is of interest.” said one of the crew. I looked at an enhanced image. It was a blue-green planet with one moon.

“Anything significant?” I asked.

“Yes signs of life, including some signs of intelligence.”

“Excellent. Another planet we can claim. The resources will be useful.”
