The Silence (flash fiction)

The Silence

She never said why she stopped talking, but after a while I found I had stopped talking too. So we moved around one another, both of us in some silent world of our own, yet still tethered to each other for some reason neither of us could fathom.

Who would be the first to say something? I wondered about this, and then wondered if she was also thinking this. Maybe we were both waiting for the other to begin talking again….

  1. Relationships have rough patches, but this story has the unusualness of not knowing why the silence came about. That’s such an intriguing situation. But here’s hoping one of them says something soon.
