Treasure Hunt (flash fiction)

Treasure Hunt

Moving slowly forwards, Anne followed the directions on the treasure map she held onto. Her crew walked expectantly behind her. As they got nearer, they all began looking around.

“Captain look!” the Second Mate shouted. Among the trees was a statue of a pirate holding a cutlass. Anne sighed loudly.

“This isn’t a treasure map, it’s a map to Cutthroat Pete’s memorial!” she exclaimed while screwing up the paper.

“We might as well dig while we’re here.” the Second Mate suggested. Anne nodded, but looked away once they started digging. She didn’t expect them to find anything of value.
