Blog Update

A few days ago I added the Articles page to Joanne the Geek. Over the last week I then added all the remaining articles, poems, flash fiction, and longer fiction to their relevant pages that hadn’t yet been added. I’m a bit crap at drawing straight lines with a mouse, so I apologise for the squiggly lines. Aside from a couple of articles and short stories which I haven’t included due to quality issues, all my blog posts are now accessible via these pages, aside from the serial fiction narratives of My Life in Darkness and The Sky-Pirates of Durn which have now been compiled and edited into novels. I’m still not sure what to do with either of these serialisations on the blog. I might delete them, keep them up for people to find, or add a Serialised Fiction page and add these posts to it. If you still want them to be available on this blog let me know.

It was nice to read some of my older flash fiction posts that were written almost four years ago now. I haven’t seen many of them for some time, but if I ever have the opportunity I sure would like to get the chance to edit a few of them…

Have a nice day everyone! 😎

Another Year Another Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday (July 16) and that day ended just over an hour ago here. I was meant to catch up with a friend for dinner, but that will now happen tonight instead when we go out for a curry.

In the late afternoon I went to a mall and spent my last 24 dollars on the stuff in the photo above. I thought I did pretty well as I manged to get a bottle of sauvignon blanc, a dark chocolate orange, a small box of Quality Street chocolates, and a chocolate mud cake. It did help brighten my day as I was feeling a bit unloved. In the evening I watched movies and ate far too much. Though it was a quiet day in the end, I did come to enjoy it.

And at least I have a dinner with a friend to still look forward to…

I hope everyone had a great day 🙂

Just a meme I found recently….

Happy New Year 2022!

In just over two hours here it will be 2022.

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! 🥳🎈🎊🎉🍾🥂

Though the last two years have really tested my optimism, I really do hope 2022 is a good year for everyone here. May we all do great things in the coming year.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I was planning to write a story for Christmas, but unfortunately nothing has come to mind, though hopefully there’ll be some posts after Christmas.

Whatever you are celebrating at this time of year, whether it is Christmas or some other festivity (religious or otherwise), I hope you all have a wonderful time with your family and friends, or even with just yourself (as I am doing this year).

Flooding in Christchurch (again)

So far the start of the summer here has been rather lackluster with lower than average temperatures and cloudy skies. To top that, during the last 24 hours we’ve had constant heavy rain and now the city and surrounding areas have flooded in places. Yay…

Really hoping for better weather at the moment. It was only May this year when we last had flooding here.

Anyway, I hope you’re all warm and dry wherever you happen to be.

Four Years of Joanne the Geek

Four years ago I started this blog, and I’m still here. Thanks to everyone who has followed, read, liked, or commented on my posts. Hopefully there will be many more to come 🙂

In other news: my poem “Into the Unknown” has been accepted for publication in Catalyst 18 which should be appearing at the end of this month. Thanks to the editor.
