Sentient (flash fiction)

“This is what I presume is my last report. I am currently locked in my quarters and all other crew are presumably dead. Two of them blew their own heads off standing in front of me. I can occasionally hear it try to force open the door of my room and so far it has been unsuccessful, but it’s only a matter of time… We brought on board what we believed was some debris floating freely in space. Whatever it was, it turned out to be sentient.”
